Getting Paid

Can You Get Paid to Care for Your Young Hero at Home?

Short answer: yes. If you live in Indiana and your days already revolve around caring for your child, that care may qualify as real, paid work, without handing your child to a stranger.

A family like yours

“When the doctor first said the word 'diagnosis,' Renata quit her job the same week. She wasn't going to send her son to anyone else, she just didn't know how they'd pay rent. Nobody told her that the care she was already giving, for free, at 2 a.m., could count.”

That's the gap Kidmosphere exists to close. Through Indiana's Structured Family Caregiving (SFC) program, a parent, grandparent, or relative can become the paid, approved caregiver for the child they love most, the child we call a Young Hero. We call you, the caregiver, a Halo Hero.

So who actually pays for it?

The funding comes through Indiana Medicaid and a Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS) waiver, not out of your pocket. You're not hiring anyone. You're being recognized, and compensated, for care you're likely already providing.

You may qualify if…

Indiana is more generous than many states here, it even allows close relatives to be the paid caregiver. Every family's situation is different, so the surest way to know is a quick eligibility check with a real person.

Heroes don't always wear capes. Sometimes they wear love, patience, and a very full coffee cup.

What the pay looks like

Eligible Halo Heroes receive a reliable weekly payment for the approved care they provide, deposited on a regular schedule. The exact amount depends on your Young Hero's approved level of care, but many Indiana families receive up to $650 a week. Kidmosphere also provides CPR & First Aid certification and a dedicated Care Navigator™ who stays beside you the whole way.

How to start (it's genuinely simple)

You talk to a Care Navigator, we help confirm eligibility, you complete a friendly onboarding, and then care continues, the way it always has, only now it's supported. No cold offices. No runaround.

This guide is general information, not legal or benefits advice. Eligibility and payment are determined by Indiana Medicaid and your waiver. A Care Navigator can walk you through your specific situation.
